Pottenstein is one of the most picturesque and well-known places in Franconian Switzerland. The town is famous for its impressive rock formations, historical sights, and a wide range of leisure activities. A particular highlight is Pottenstein Castle, which sits on a rock above the town. Dating back to the 11th century, it offers a wonderful view of the surroundings. You can visit the castle and learn more about its fascinating history. Pottenstein also impresses with a charming landscape featuring numerous hiking and cycling trails, such as the Püttlachtal, Klumpertal, and the Pottensteiner Höhenweg with the Himmelsleiter observation tower. The town and its surroundings are known for culinary specialities and vibrant traditions. Particularly impressive is the annual event on the evening of 6 January, when numerous mountain fires are lit on the hills around Pottenstein to mark the end of the Eternal Adoration.
