About This Property
Casa Romito boasts sweeping views, comfort, privacy and style in equal measure. The attention to detail and panache of its young owner-designer are evident wherever you turn, and its position in one of Sicily's most attractive areas makes it a superb base for a holiday in the Sicilian countryside. The pool sits elegantly in its rural context, adding another dimension to this rural idyll.
Inside: accommodation at Casa Romito is on two floors. On the ground floor, the entrance hall leads on one side to the lovely country kitchen, with terracotta floors, a fireplace, a breakfast table and access to a dining terrace. To the other side of the entrance hall is a large living area, whose white-painted beamed ceilings, comfy sofas, great fireplace and light-giving French windows make for an extremely relaxing and comfortable atmosphere. An arch leads from the living area to the dining room, though you will probably take most of your meals al fresco on the surrounding terraces. A shower room completes the accommodation on the ground floor.
A flight of stairs leads from the entrance hall to the first floor, where there is a large central hallway-cum-sitting area and five bedrooms: two doubles, two double-twins, and a small single room, which is available on request for a younger child. There are also three shower rooms, two of which are en-suite. Decoration throughout is very stylish, with a mixture of pastel colours, contemporary restorations and antique furniture.
Outside: Casa Romito is set on several hectares of rolling hillside with extensive views of the coast and the surrounding hills. Grassy banks are studded with fruit trees and centuries-old oaks and chestnuts while in the middle, just below an original well-head, is a high-quality pool with wooden decking.
The terraces in front of the kitchen, where the dining table and the barbeque are placed, command superb sea views which are at their most dramatic at sunset. This is a place for lovers of space, relaxation and the peace and quiet of the countryside.
Parts of the route to this property are unpaved and a little rough. We therefore recommend guests hire a car with high ground clearance.
The discreet and helpful owners may stay within the grounds and will not disturb in any way, unless of course you need local advice.
This property is surrounded by countryside, some of which is unfenced and may include drops or steep slopes. We therefore recommend that younger children are supervised by an adult when exploring the grounds.
There is very limited or no mobile phone reception at this property.
Nestled on the flanks of the Madonie Mountains Casa Romito is a perfect way to mix mountains and sea. It’s an ideal base for exploring, on foot or by car, the mountainous nature reserve and the many towns and villages that it contains.
Just twenty-five minutes drive down the hill is Cefalu, with its spectacularly sited Norman cathedral, medieval town centre and beach.
The motorway gives you easy access to Palermo, Monreale and the Roman remains at
Solunto. Slightly further afield, the Ancient Greek remains at Segesta, Selinunte and the Valley of the Temples in Agrigento are well worth the journey.
