The medieval market town of St Cirq Lapopie and one of the most beautiful villages in France, it was recognized as the "Preferred Village of the French" in 2012. It nestles against the rock of Lapopie which offers a breathtaking view of the Lot valley. Formerly the village knew a period of glory thanks to a thriving boat activity with: its locks, its mills, its ports, its dams and its towpath.
