Villa Zauberblick offers the perfect setting for a relaxing yet active holiday. With a minimum stay of two nights, we are also a wonderful stopover – whether you're traveling on your way to your holiday destination, on a business trip, or simply want to put your feet up while hiking around the Rennsteig trail.

The holiday home "Villa Zauberblick" on the Rennsteig trail in the Franconian Forest is located on the upper edge of Lauenhain, between and above Ludwigsstadt (Aldi grocery store: 5.3 km; 7 min by car) and Steinbach am Wald (Edeka grocery store: 2.7 km; 3 min by car), just 800 m north of the Rennsteig trail.

It's the perfect starting point for worthwhile excursions to places like Kronach, Kulmbach, Coburg, Hof, Bamberg and Bayreuth, Sonneberg, Saalfeld, Rudolstadt, Gera, Jena, and Erfurt (depending on the destination, between 30 and 100 minutes by car).

In summer, you can swim in the idyllic, newly created Ölschnitzsee reservoir near Windheim (6.6 km; 7 min by car) or in the somewhat secluded "Webersloch" near Lehesten (a hidden gem – Google it!). When open, you can also try the Weitisberga forest pool or the Rothenkirchen natural swimming pool (both 15 km; 17 min by car). Indoor swimming pools are available in Steinbach am Wald and Ludwigsstadt.

Highly recommended nearby locations: Lauenstein Castle (7.9 km; 11 min by car), "Thüringer Warte" (9.9 km; 15 min by car), Staatsbruch Nature Reserve (4.4 km; 6 min by car), "Altvaterturm"8 (9.7 km; 12 min by car), and the Laura Concentration Camp Memorial (9.8 km; 11 min by car) – all also suitable as more or less challenging or time-consuming hiking destinations.

A little further away (between 30 and 45 minutes by car): Hohenwarte Reservoir and Ködertal Dam, Bad Steben and Bad Lobenstein (both charming spa towns with thermal baths!).

Otherwise, in our beautiful region: simply point to the map (or Google Maps)... walk, run, hike, cycle, drive there... and be captivated!
