On the western side is the Etruscan town of Cortona, which is well worth a visit, with stores of all kinds, restaurants, museums, art galleries and sophisticated life; a little further away are Arezzo, Montepulciano or the beautiful Lake Trasimeno. To the east, you will find the Umbrian towns of Città di Castello and Gubbio.
