Apartment
About This Property
The apartment, actually the house, is one half of a 2003 elaborately and lovingly renovated old, two-horse fisherman's chate from 1885. It is located directly behind the dike in Pogum, two to three hours by car from the Ruhr or Münsterland. Pogum is an old warping village in the East Frisian Rheiderland on the Ems - opposite the seaport city of Emden. Pogum is popularly called the Endje van de Wereld, because the road used to end here, and you stand in front of the Dollart, the mouth of the Ems, and it still stands today. The pretty fishing village Ditzum with a number of nice restaurants and a supermarket along the dike along about 1.5 kilometers. From the only still functioning Sielhafen in Ostfriesland there is a ferry to Petkum (suburb of Emden). During the season it is possible to take the ferry from Ditzum to Borkum or Delfzijl. The nearest major city is Leer with a worth seeing old town. Groningen, a worthwhile destination, is about 60 km (highway) away. Pogum is the ideal location for cycling or kayaking. Those who are brave can swim in the Ems, as the locals do. But there is also a nice, child-friendly bathing lake near Jemgum.
