About This Property

The house in which the apartment is located belongs to a small complex with only twelve natural stone houses / apartments in Kalathas on the Akrotiri peninsula, at a gorge (nature reserve) above the sea. You have a wonderful view of the gorge, which blooms all year round, and also of the sea. The peaks of the White Mountains can be seen in the distance.

Chania, the former capital of Crete, is considered the most beautiful city on the island and is only 10 km away. Ryanair describes them as follows:

Chania (pronounced "Hania") is certainly the prettiest port city in Greece. Swallows soar into the bright blue sky above the semicircle of large Venetian houses that surround the postcard-beautiful Old Port. The tables of countless bars and restaurants line the quay. Behind the harbor, narrow, traffic-calmed shopping streets wind through the picturesque old town. A coast of sandy beaches nestles on both sides of the city.

It blooms all year round in Crete: oranges, lemons, oleanders, jasmine, bougainville, roses, and the wildflower bloom in spring is particularly beautiful. You can swim in the sea from the beginning of April to at least mid-November at the latest. A special kind of experience is the Greek Easter, which can deviate up to 5 weeks from the German Easter. Many, very beautiful hikes and excursions can be undertaken all year round, an absolute highlight is the Samaria Gorge, the largest gorge in Europe. In addition, attractive cities and many archaeological sites, e.g. B. Knossos.

Tips for the journey: Crete is only about three hours flight from Germany. There are direct flights to the international airport of Chania from many cities. From there it takes about 15 minutes to the apartment by rental car or taxi. On request, your rental car will be waiting for you at the airport. Alternatively, you can fly to Heraklion, today's capital of Crete. From here a bus goes to Chania every 30 minutes, it takes about two hours to walk the very beautiful route along the coast. If you wish, you can also hire a car from Heraklion airport or the bus station in Chania. Another option is to fly to Athens. From here there is a flight to Chania six times a day, it takes 45 minutes. From Athens you can also take a short sea trip and take the ferry to Souda. The ferry takes about eight hours, and from Souda you can be in the apartment in a quarter of an hour by taxi or rental car.

Tips for cheap flights: There are cheap flights e.g. B. with Ryanair, Condor, Air Berlin, German Wings, Tuifly and with the Greek scheduled airline Aegeanair, partner of Lufthansa, which offers fairly reasonable prices and flies directly from German cities to Chania and Heraklion, as well as six times a day from Athens to Chania.
