Labin city
The ancient Labin, whose old name was Albona and was mentioned in 285, sits enthroned on the mountain above Rabac. The birthplace of Matthias Flacius Illyricus, Martin Luther's "comrade-in-arms", is today a cultural and administrative center. There is hardly a place where there is such a charming mixture of architecture and cultural-historical monuments, with numerous studios and a touch of youth, which meets here, especially in the evening, in numerous coffee shops. Dubrova with its sculpture park is located near Labin - an outdoor forma viva with over 70 stone sculptures.
After a walk through the alleys of the old town, you will visit the city museum with its archaeological and ethnographic collection and the mining collection with the faithful copy of a mining tunnel, unique in its kind, in this part of Europe. Visit the impressive collection of Matthias Flacius Illyricus and take a look at the studios. From Fortica you can enjoy the wonderful view of Rabac, the island of Cres and the surrounding area.
