In addition to the Senj wind bura and the unique combination of sea and mountains, the town of Senj is also known for its rich cultural heritage, glorious past, literature and tradition. The most famous monument that bears witness to this glorious and turbulent past is the Nehaj Tower, which was built in the 16th century to defend against the Turks and Venetians.
