Cottage

Laroya is found over Macale, more than 800 metres high, and on the northern slope of the “Sierra de los Filabres” (mountain range). This is a lovely terracing-shaped small town all over the slope of the mountain. The wonderful view of this white village stands out thanks to the green landscape that surrounds it. It is the smallest town in Almería as it has about 80 inhabitants; perhaps this is the reason why its customs are still the same and their way of life is so slow and peaceful.

“Cortijo el Picachito” (farmhouse) is located at the entrance of Laroya: under it, an olive grove and the river; over it, almond trees, brooms and indigenous vegetation; opposite it, there is a great amount of kermes oaks that are growing more and more and taking control of the mountain. This building is in accordance with the other ones in this area; it is nearly 200 years old and has been restored for rural tourism. Its decoration mixes the beauty and warmth from the antique furniture with the comfort from the modern things.
