It was a 16th century abbey, originally a spiritual retreat for Cistercian nuns who were then hunted for their overly enthusiastic way of enjoying the beauty of the lake. The garden of the Villa, rich in sculptures and splendid architectural elements, is considered one of the best in Italy.
