In the center between two important provinces of western Sicily, Palermo and Trapani, 40 km from Palermo, the Sicilian capital. The Arab-Norman Palermo serial site and the cathedrals of Cefalù and Monreale has been declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO and Capital of Culture for 2018.
A few kilometers away is the Oriented Natural Reserve of the Zingaro. The Zingaro coast is one of the very few stretches of the coast of Sicily that is not contaminated by the presence of a coastal road, best reached by sea for swimming in crystal clear waters in small natural bays. The original landscape was made up mostly of evergreen Mediterranean forest. 39 bird species nest in the reserve, including the peregrine falcon and Bonelli's eagle.
The Terme Segestane are hydrothermal springs known for their therapeutic properties. These waters are suitable for use in baths and inhalations, the mud is useful for curing rheumatism, arthritis, arthrosis and skin diseases.
The archaeological park of Selinunte (it was an ancient Greek city on the south-western coast of Sicily) is composed of five temples built around an acropolis. Of the five temples only temple E (the so-called temple of Era) has been rebuilt.
The Saline della Laguna are located in western Sicily, on the coast that connects Trapani with Marsala. A unique territory facing the island of Mothia, along the famous "salt road". A path to be discovered, in the heart of the Stagnone Islands Nature Reserve.
Visiting Erice, an ancient medieval village, means getting lost among a thousand glimpses of paved streets, fortifications, ancient churches (La Matrice and Sant'Orsola), convents, artisan shops (production of ceramics, typical sweets, rugs), pine forests and gardens, and then get lost, on the edge of the town, in breathtaking views towards the Egadi islands, the Stagnone, the Saline and the cultivated fields of the whole province of Trapani.
