The Appartamento del Capitano is a charming and elegant apartment situated on the third floor of the ancient Palazzo del Capitano del Popolo, a building that played an extremely important role in the early Medieval politics of Cortona when the town was a city state. The Capitano del Popolo was the historical figure who traditionally represented the people of the city. This big palazzo overlooks the main square of the town, Piazza della Repubblica, giving a cross-section of the daily life in Cortona. The apartment has a bright sitting room with two sofas and an armchair, accomodating up to 6 people. The kitchen is very practical and it has a table for six people. There are three double bedrooms, one of which has two single beds. By a winding staircase you enter a characteristic bathroom with a shower and also another little toilet. The Palazzo del Capitano del Popolo gives you a unique opportunity to enjoy the atmosphere of the town centre of Cortona, walking through its beautiful alleys, shopping in the characteristic antique's shops and sipping a delicious glass of wine in one of the numerous coffee bars.
