Villa Golfinhos sits almost completely alone in a valley on a wooded hillside. It really makes the most of the peace and quiet, not to mention the fantastic views over the valley and distant sea. This villa has been designed with the views in mind. Large windows adorn the rooms, the French doors open on to a raised terrace, and even the pool comes with an impressive vista.

The pool at Villa Golfinhos is small but sweet (8mx4m), with pretty mosaic banding and Roman steps. It comes complete with a suntrap of a terrace. Although there’s a sense of being away from it all, the sweeping Algarve beaches can be reached in about half an hour by car.

A barbecue sits on the pool terrace – perfect for not only the odd al fresco meal, but also enjoying the panoramic views. The roomy dining-living area is lovely – contemporary but with a distinct Portuguese flair. The kitchen, meanwhile, is well-equipped.
