Furthermore in the vicinity, there are the ruins of Lasaea, an ancient city also mentioned in the Bible. In a distance of just five miles at the west, there is the natural port of Kaloi Limenes or “Fair Havens”. According to local legend as well as biblical scholars,it is asserted that Apostle Paul, in whose name a small church was built therein the 1960s), landed at Kaloi Limenes to preach the Christian faith in Crete.
Crisostomos is an excellent starting point to explore the whole of Southern Crete, including many wonderful beaches of Kaloi Limenes, Agiofaraggo, Kefali, Matala and Lendas.
