So, for location, The Retreat is simply perfect - nestling quietly in the mountains, with small shops and restaurants nearby, yet only 25 minutes from the bustle of the coastal resorts.


Activities/Sports/Shopping: Beaches] - There are a number of excellent beaches within easy reach. The nearest beach is at Torre Del Mar - a long wide beach with activities and facilities. There are a number of excellent beaches at Nerja including a naturist beach. [Waterparks/Themeparks] There is a water park 20 minutes away at Torre Del Mar and there are further waterparks and themeparks near Malaga. [Watersports] - Sailing, Jet skiing, Water skiing & Windsurfing are all available at many nearby places. [Shopping] - There is a large shopping centre at Torre del Mar and the town has many good shops. There are also many excellent smaller shops at Nerja. [Walking] - Easy or challenging, spectacular scenery. [Horse Riding, Fishing] - Available nearby. [Skiing & Snowboarding!] - About 1.5 hours away, near Granada is the major ski resort of Sierra Nevada. [Bowling and Cinema] - 20 minutes away in Torre del Mar.


Places to Visit: [Traditional Spanish Pueblos] - Many traditional 'white' villages all around. Each has its own character and has remained unchanged for hundreds of years - look out the fiestas (village parties) during the summer. [Alhambra at Granada] - This magnificent sight is definitely worth a visit. [Nerja Caves] - Spectacular cave complex, the best in Spain, includes concert hall. [Alpujarrás] - The setting for the popular book 'Driving over Lemons'. [Sierra Nevada] - Magnificent mountain range including ski resort. [Ronda and Seville] - quite a drive away but worth a visit. Ronda famous for its gorge and the home of Spanish bullfighting. Seville with its Moorish heritage and spectacular architecture - see the Giralda, one of the most famous buildings in Spain. Christopher Columbus sailed from here to discover America. [Gibraltar] - Quite a drive but worth a visit. See the Barbary apes, Africa and the famous gate to the Mediterranean. Golf: There are two excellent golf courses nearby. [Baviera Golf] approximately 20 minutes away between Torre Del Mar & Velez Malaga. The 5,910 metres course is a Par 72 and is not as crowded as many courses found on the Costa Del Sol.
