The home is fully furnished and ready for your stay, offering modern comforts such as a washer–dryer, TV, high-speed WiFi, and air conditioning on every floor. Located in Balat–Fener, one of Istanbul’s most authentic and historic neighborhoods, this area was once home to Greek and Jewish communities and still carries the soul of Old Istanbul. Today, it has become a highly sought-after district full of 3rd-wave coffee shops, small restaurants, boutique stores, and picturesque streets.
Major attractions are just 15 minutes away by tramway, bus or ferry which making it the perfect base for exploring the city while enjoying a local, cultural atmosphere.
Come and stay in a home where history, style, and comfort meet. Like much of Istanbul, Fener–Balat is changing, but unlike many other parts of the city, its transformation does not involve large housing complexes or shopping malls. Rents have also not skyrocketed the way they have in other historic areas that preserved their Ottoman character.
As a result, the neighborhood has evolved into a creative, design-driven district and even served as one of the main venues of the Istanbul Design Biennial.
So if you’re looking for nightlife, shopping malls, or a fully tourist-oriented environment, Balat may not be the right fit.
But if you want something more authentic — children playing in the streets, a mix of old and new homes, a real neighborhood feeling — then you will truly enjoy what Balat has to offer.
Istanbul is famously built on seven hills, so the city is full of slopes and panoramic viewpoints wherever you go. Balat is no exception: it is part of the old city, with winding, narrow, historic streets. Many buildings here are traditional homes, which means there are no elevators and staircases are common.
For this reason, the area might not be suitable for guests with mobility challenges. Likewise, families with young children should be aware that the stairs require supervision, as unsupervised use may lead to injury.
