Location:
Pollensa is a deeply enriching and inspiring region, making it an ideal place to visit if you are looking to discover the true wonders of Europe. Joan March Gardens are an extensive landscape that was first formed in the late 1980s. These gardens were built in celebration of the life and works of the eldest son of the March family, who were best known for their economic expertise that helped to spur this region into a financial boom. Guests are free to explore this attraction in-depth, allowing them to marvel at the incredible olive and cypress trees, which can often be seen on the town’s traditional coat of arms. Joan March Gardens are based just under 10-minutes away and are open 24 hours a day, making it a very accessible attraction.
One of the most significant attractions within this region is Puig de Maria, a unique religious monument that is based around 10-minutes away from the centre of the region. At the top of a looming 330-metre peak sits an ornate 14th-century monastery, which was once viewed as a beautiful shrine to the Virgin Mary. Despite its long history, this monastery was forced to close in 1564, leaving many citizens heartbroken. Luckily, the monastery was allowed to reopen in 1638 and quickly grew into the prized tourist attraction we see today. Many previous guests have noted that it only takes around 30-minutes to climb to the top of Puig de Maria, making it a relatively easy hike for most travellers.
If you are looking to learn more about the wonders of the prehistoric era, a trip to Alzinaret Caves is a must-do activity. These caves were first discovered in 1927 but are said to date back to 1600 BC. In turn, these structures are teeming with artefacts from the Middle Bronze Age, which guests can observe at their own pace. The British archaeologist who discovered these caves, otherwise known as Wilfred Hemp, is also celebrated throughout this attraction. As such, a cave named Number 7 of Hemp is labelled in his honour. Alzinaret Caves can be found just over 10-minutes away from the centre of Pollensa.
