About This Property
Latticed doors and mosaic tiles embellish this Portuguese townhouse in Lagoa’s historical center recreated by the design team at studioarte. The light-flooded space emphasizes simple, sculptural furnishings, which stand out against its tall whitewashed walls.
The Space:
Algarve-based design ensemble studioarte has merged Arabic ornamentation with whitewashed geometry in this sophisticated coastal sanctuary. Completely reconstructed across two levels, the cubic villa offers three bedrooms and four bathrooms, with contemporary furnishings, graphic rugs, and designer lighting. Its traditional façade showcases latticed screen entries, and a courtyard terrace holds a kitchen, dining zone, plunge pool, and sunbeds.
Guest Access:
Step out of the latticed doorways of this vacation home into vivid cobbled streets. Lagoa is a great destination for exploring, with an open market, sidewalk cafes, and traditional taverns occupying its modest, whitewashed buildings.
The Neighborhood:
Known for its expansive sands and hidden coves, Lagoa boasts beaches such as Praia do Carvoeiro (7km), the cliff-backed sands of Praia da Marinha (8km), and Praia de Albandeira (12km), with its photo-worthy limestone arch, turquoise water, and beachfront restaurant. The Algar de Benagil, a seaside cave with a skylight hole in its roof, is a must-visit, reachable only by boat.
Beyond the beaches, the fishing village of Ferragudo is ideal for seafood lovers, especially during lobster season. The region’s historical highlights include the red-stone Castel dos Mouros in Silves, a striking 12th-century fortress that served as the Moorish capital. Silves also features massive city gates and a unique Gothic cathedral constructed on the site of a former Moorish mosque.
Getting Around:
Outdoor activities are plentiful in and around Lagoa, including kayaking, stand-up paddleboarding (SUP), boating, diving, and hiking the scenic Percurso dos Sete Vales Suspensos path. This coastal trail winds along the waterfront, offering breathtaking views of the bays, coves and beaches that make the Algarve famous.
Lagoa is conveniently located, with the nearest airport being Faro International, approximately 60 km away. From Faro, visitors can easily reach Lagoa by car, taxi, or public transportation.
