Yours hosts Sarah and Salih have recently renovated the Villa which used to be one of the original homes in Kaya Village owned by Salih's Grandfather since the early 1920's. It has a long family history and has been restored by the owners who now live in Australia. Sarah and Salih met in Turkey about 30 years ago and lived there for some years before moving to Australia where they married in 1997 and went on to have 3 children. Jack, Sam and Nick love travelling to Turkey to visit family who all still reside in the village. They understand the culture and beauty of the area and have decided to open up this piece of paradise to tourists and visitors to enjoy.
Kaya Village is referred to as the "Ghost village" due to its quiet atmosphere and abandoned homes. Once a bustling Greek village called Levissi, it was abandoned during the population exchange between Greece and Turkey in the 1920's. An earthquake in later years left a large part of the homes in the valley in ruins. Today, its stone houses, churches and streets stand empty - preserved in time, attracting visitors curious about its haunting history and picturesque ruins. Within a few metres you can stroll to local restaurants and markets for supplies. The village is flat for easy walking and if you're more adventurous, you can join part of the Lycian trail and do some hiking with incredible views.
