Designed in the middle of the 20th century as a holiday retreat for a very important Milanese family, Villa Colico sits on a gated, sloped land (approx. 7.4 acres) on Lake Como\'s northeast shore. The villa enjoys panoramic views of the magnificent blue lake and the mountains beyond. The view, the light and the strong relationship between the interiors and nature are the main features of this dream villa. Its modern architectural style was inspired by the design ideas of Ludwig Mies van der Rohe. Upon entering, you are greeted with a breathtaking lake view that can be seen from every room in the villa. The house focuses on entertainment with a large living and dining room that leads onto the outside panoramic terrace - the perfect setting for outdoor dining and sundowners. The hot tub and the pool are at the top of the property so guests can relax in the water looking over the azure waters of Lake Como. Other activities available on site include ping pong, badminton, volleyball, and table football.

This is the ideal villa for those looking for something really special. (Please note, there might be child safety issues with the open pool and steps). Pets are accepted upon request.

The pool is open from May 15 - September 15.

Villa Colico consists of three levels. At the entrance level is a fully-equipped, modern kitchen (with large fridge, stove, dishwasher, oven, and microwave), a toilet room (WC and basin), a single bedroom (lake view) with an extra pull-out bed, a double bedroom (lake view) with ensuite bathroom (shower), and a laundry room with washing machine and dryer.

10 steps down is the dining room with table for 12 people and a working fireplace. Six steps down are the living room and social areas with large comfy sofas and wide screen TV. There is a small fitness room on this floor, with tapis roulant and other tools for pilates and yoga. The use of clear, floor-to-ceiling glass opens the interior to its natural surroundings. In the summer open up the doors and enjoy the majestic views and fresh breeze. The villa is great even in the winter months.

Upstairs there are four bedrooms (two with ensuite bathrooms and two sharing a bathroom) - each one has a TV and enjoys great lake views.

Included in the rental price: Electricity, 3 hours housekeeping once a week, hot water, Internet, change of linen/towels twice weekly, garden and pool maintenance

Set in a landscape of exceptional beauty at the top of the small Olgiasca peninsula is the nearby Abby of Piona. It is a must see. The small town of Colico is seven km north and offers many kinds of shops, including a shopping center. The town is a local transport hub, with navigation service to Como and Lecco, as well as easy trains and roads to Milan (via the eastern shore of the lake, Lecco and Brianza). Varenna is 14 km away and here you can visit Villa Monastero and Villa Cipressi. The car ferry operates from Varenna to Bellagio and Menaggio.
